Kintsugi Workshop for Beginners: £58

An introduction to the traditional Japanese craft of Kintsugi, the art of golden repair.

In this workshop you will be guided through the whole process from the initial breakage to gold application using a combination of traditional and contemporary techniques resulting in a unique piece of Japanese pottery to take home. A range of ceramics will be available to choose from or you are welcome to bring your own piece with you, whether it be a treasured item that is already broken and in need of repair or a piece you would like to break and transform.

All materials are provided with an option to upgrade on the day to sterling silver or pure gold powder for an additional cost and would make your repairs food safe.

There will be time within the class to talk about the history of Kintsugi, shown traditional, specialist methods of reparation that are rarely used in modern Kintsugi and during an interim break there will be refreshments and home made cake.

Kintsugi is a beautiful craft and you will leave feeling it's meditative, therapeutic effects and with lots of new knowledge that may inspire a new hobby...and of course your own piece of Kintsugi pottery. Free parking available on site.

If using the gold bronze powder, the piece you produce is purely for decoration and display as it is not food safe due to the nature of the metallic powder used.
