Kinkou?

Based in rural Leicestershire, Studio Kinkou was created as a place to explore the traditional culture of Japan. Here we explore traditional Japanese crafts and holistic well-being.

Lucy, its founder, has a career spanning over 25 years in the arts with a specific interest in Japanese art and culture which initially led to a fascination with Japanese ceramics and the art of Kintsugi, the repairing of broken pottery.

Since discovering Kintsugi she has broadened her knowledge to the traditional crafts of Shibori, the art of Japanese manual resist dyeing using natural indigo, and Kurinuki, a clay carving technique that produces unique ceramic pieces.

The holistic side to Kinkou performs Japanese Reiki and Western Reflexology. Both complementary therapies that invoke a sense of well-being and vitality, or Ki in Japanese. Book either of these therapies or a combination of both via Healing Kinkou.

The studio also offers a full repair service for all types of ceramics and Lucy creates individual pieces in all of the traditional arts that are available in the studio shop and holds workshops where she shares her love of these arts.

Commission pieces and requests are always welcome.
